One Year Ago- Ginger (9 October 2000 - 19 April 2012)

One year ago today, my heart was shattered into millions of pieces when my beloved dachshund Ginger, died in her sleep while I was sewing.  She had not been ill at all, having been to the vet only two weeks earlier.  Her sudden and inexplicable loss devastated us and our pack, and we still mourn her today.  Run free at the Bridge baby doll- Mama misses you.  (These pictures are from her very first day with us- on the way home from her foster home)

As blog followers may recall my mom and I coordinated the making of this years Genesee Valley Quilt Club raffle quilt. I have set up a fundraising page through youCaring.org where you can purchase tickets.
Made by the Genesee Valley Quilt Club, this pieced and quilted work is 90″ x 90″ and will be raffled off to benefit the club and the Community Quilting Bee of Sojourner House at Pathstone.
Raffle tickets are $1 each. Tickets may be purchased world wide, but international winners will be required to pay shipping. Shipping is free to any winner living in the United States.
For each $1 donation a raffle ticket will be filled out with your contact information and you will receive your raffle ticket stub in the mail as confirmation. You may check the boxes to hide your donation amount or to make your donation anonymous so your information doesn’t show up on the fundraiser site. Your contact information is available to the fundraiser administrator only.
Update: I realize that not all of my followers use Paypal or like to use a credit card on the internet so if you would like to purchase tickets with a check just leave me a message in the comments section (make sure a valid email is used with your comment) and I will send you an email with information on where to mail your payment.
The drawing will take place on June 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm (Eastern time) at the RIT Gordon Field House in Rochester, NY. You do not need to be present to win.

Product Review! Dogids great collar!

Yes Blogville, we the DWM have a post for you today!  (WHN has been taking her medicine every day and is feeling better- so much so that she will be in her sewing room to make the placemats for the winners of Sallie's auction and the quilt for Ginger Jasper, starting tomorrow!!  We are happy that she is getting better, and that is shows!)

Several months ago, WHN received an email asking if she would review a new dog collar for us and she agreed to do so- She placed the order online as instructed and when the collar arrived, she was blown away-  she loved the collar and it was so much nicer than the website illustrations! WHN had been asked to review the ToughHound All Sports Collar made by DogidsShe dithered as usual, having to choose which one of us would be her model and Chip won the coin toss!  WHN ordered the collar in a size 12, after carefully measuring Chip's neck, and chose the bright yellow to match his Hug a Dog harness.  What is great about the collar is that the id tag is part of the collar, so Chip does not have to wear a tag with his name and phone number on it.  The tag includes four lines for the name and contact info, so there will be one less tag on the collar itself to get caught while we are rough housing!  Considering we are dachsies, this also takes weight off of our necks!  The metal tag does not  add any weight to the collar and is scratchproof! The collar itself is odor and water proof and easy to keep clean- just a simple wipe down every week during our bath routine.  The only downside for WHN is the cost- it is $29.99 per collar.  Since all three of us suffer from skin issues of some kind or another, this collar is fabulous- NO HAIR LOSS due to the collar!!!  (Snoopy has lost almost all of his chest hair in front due to irritation from his current collar and tags- guess

what he is getting next month!)

This collar is perfect for the DWM- wears well and is easy to keep clean.  We give it five paws up and Tasha and Snoopy will be getting theirs as soon as the taxes are done!)
